Rosa parks went onto the public bus one day and all the white seats were taken. She was going to sit in the back anyway so she sat in the first black seat. When a white man came by he wanted a seat the bus driver asked Rosa and three others to move. When the others moved and she didn't the bus driver asked her if she was going to stand up. She said, "No, I'm not." The bus driver then called the police and they arrested Parks. She didn't refuse, but she was certainly not giving up. This was only the beginning of Parks' journey throughout the civil rights movement.
"I would like to be remembered as a person who wanted to be free ... so other people would also be free."
